Firefox version 133.0 is now available

Mozilla has announced the release of Firefox 133.0. Notable in this release is the addition of a new anti-tracking feature, Bounce Tracking Protection, which detects trackers based on redirect behavior and automatically purges their cookies and site data to thwart tracking. The release also includes various security fixes and more.

Annoying new behavior

I notice now that when I start typing in the URL bar, Firefox 133 hides the menu, tabs and bookmark toolbar. I don't like this! Any Firefox wizards know how to turn this off?

I don't have this effect with MacOS, I guess that would be the case also for Linux, and the release notes are not talking of this. Did you try a new profile?

I'm on Linux. I'll try a new profile and see if that helps.

Well, that is annoying. I don't see this behavior on a new profile, but have no idea how to find what is causing it in the old profile.

You can go to about:config and check the non-default values but it may be a bit troublesome to find the culprit... Good luck!

It may sound obvious but I've been there so I have to say it: if you have a custom userChrome (or anything else that goes beyond standard themeing), update it first.

As far as I know, I do not have any custom theming. I also disabled all of my extensions with no luck. And I looked at all the about:config non-default settings and found nothing useful. :( I'll keep going.

Solved! Thank you, qtwyeuritoiy. It seems that at some long-forgotten point, I'd done some userChrome.css hacking as per this web page and that was the culprit.
