That isn't the kind of client I'd like to serve. In some jurisdictions if you offer a service you can't discriminate who your clients are. Hotel owner cannot say "we won't accommodate you", but if customer walks away it's OK.
Sure, lost $1k is not nice, but this kind of complaint is a big red flag. This customer would probably turn into huge hassle later.
