Don't forget about the rest of the world

IM(very)HO, free software development badly needs further decentralization and some real diversity. Not just inclusion of different kinds of Americans. Everything I'm reading here is very US-centric and is forcing more internal political turmoil onto the rest of the world. From many personal conversations, I'm pretty sure that most people working in software development who I know personally (including women who constitute about 40% of software dev jobs in the place I'm currently at) would be more uncomfortable with the presence of these CoCs and "steering committees" that suppress dissent and push their side of the story as the only one.

Not to take anything from the US, who have done and continue doing an immense amount of important work, but my god this is tiring.

Hehehe. I find myself in agreement.

Out of my own experiences in free software I wrote my own code of conduct for my hobby projects.

It starts with "No USA cultural imperialism allowed". Since in my personal experience they are the only ones who usually self appoint themselves as sheriffs of the morals.
