FWIW, Oracle bases on LTS (for UEK) and the git history is public on GitHub. I am paid by Oracle but I work upstream, not on UEK. If I want to get a fix into UEK, I make sure GregKH has it. I think it would be an interesting comparison because it would tell us how successful the two models are at getting fixes into customer hands.
