did you by any chance read the debian free software guidelines and the debian social contract already? thanks in advance. i can't bloody believe that i see people praising damn source-available proprietary software for being source-available in a blasted 2024 and not being ashamed of comparing that bullshit to free software.

The race to replace Redis

There's also the apparent failure to understand the difference between "software" ie "all the instructions" ie "a document that could be printed out", and a "service" ie "here's a computer that is running the software".

I can understand some FS fanatics being upset that they are provided with a SERVICE that lets them USE software without being entitled to a copy of said software, but at the end of the day services and software are two completely different things. It doesn't help the discussion if you act as if they're interchangeable ...

Cheers,
Wol

The SSPL, like the GPL, does not mandate anyone to provide you with free computers. Only the software is covered.
