The thing nobody wants to pay for - documentation

When designing something, always think about ALL the possibilities, before fixing your problem. Let's say you have three yes/no choices, that's an 8-way truth table. If even ONE of those eight doesn't make sense, then your solution is broken! If you're only interested in no 4, just fix no 4. But if no 7 doesn't make sense, you've just prevented the next person from fixing that one, and possibly several others, *properly*.

So your no 4 fix is, of logical necessity, a dubious bodge. That's playing dirty :-(
