So, Fedora actually ships Rust crates as separate packages...

I wonder if they actually think it is sustainable to do so.

Probably not, but what else to do? Mozilla totally dropped the ball when it came to fitting in working distribution model. The backstabbers of open source :(

There's a whole pile of automation behind that, and Fabio et al have made sure that shipping RPM-per-crate is trivially easy for the vast majority of Rust crates on crates.io; it can get a bit harder for crates that depend on non-Rust libraries, but it's otherwise a simple process because of all the automation.
