The things nobody wants to pay for

Sadly I can relate with some of the problems in this post, I've had open source development paid for by companies I work for then something changes be it management, the direction of the company, cost cutting or just the whims of some higher ups and the project just dies off. I will no longer maintain open source on behalf of companies, I'll commit patches to other projects but full maintainer-ship just doesn't seem right for the community.
