Another source of pessimism about Firefox is this: the US government (also the UK government) supports any browser with a > 2% share on its websites. Firefox is in danger of slipping below that threshold and therefore losing guaranteed support from US government websites. That could set off a cascade, first among corporates who do business with the US government, then to others.

Firefox has been almost my only browser for the last 8 years and I certainly don't want to see this happen!
