Camm Maguire has announced GCL 2.6.3 on 19 July 2004. This version,
the latest in the `stable' series, fixes some issues discovered after
2.6.2 was released. Among the highlights of 2.6.2 are a compiler
stress test suite, performance improvements to the compiler, native
support for FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and MacOSX, support of AMD64, and more.

GCL (GNU Common Lisp) is the official Common Lisp implementation for
the GNU project. "Its design makes use of the system's C compiler to
compile to native object code, providing for both good performance and
facile portability."
