This will be the most likely outcome, along with completely gutting F/OSS creation and general purpose computing in the EU.

This will increase software (and thus product) development costs by at least an order of magnitude, and will also effectively create a giant step from purely-as-a-hobby-with-no-obligations to manufacturer-under-the-CRA-with-full-obligations, with no middle ground.
