Rest in peace Satoru Ueda

[Satoru Ueda] The OpenChain site carries the sad news of the passing of Satoru Ueda. Your editor first met Ueda San at the 2007 Linux Foundation Japan Symposium, where a small group of dedicated developers and managers was working hard to bring open-source development practices to the country. Ueda San was always a strong advocate for this cause and deserves much credit for the success of Linux and open source in Japan. He was also always a warm and welcoming person; he will be much missed.

I worked with Ueda-san for over 20 years, delivering many Open Source training sessions (both inside and outside of Sony), and meeting at conferences and trade events. He was a pillar of the Open Source community in Japan. He was diligent, dedicated, and extremely passionate about open source, and as Jon said, a warm and welcoming person. I always enjoyed meeting with him and working with him, and was shocked to hear the news of his sudden, and unexpected passing. I am grateful to have had the chance to know him.

What sad news!
I worked with Ueda San when I helped to organize the first embedded Linux conferences, and since then, it was always a pleasure to meet him. Whenever we crossed paths, typically at conferences, he was always welcoming me with a warm and sincere smile. He will definitely be missed in our events.
I will also miss his Japan Jamboree invitations (which I dreamed I would manage to attend one day), and his enthusiasm for promoting Free and Open Source Software and the work of our community.
My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
