McGrath: Red Hat’s commitment to open source

I work at a IMU design and manufacturing company and recently was asked to automate wafer inspections on 20 year old microscopes that are complete black boxes running MSDOS. No one remembered where the source code was and we got no support, running it for decades hoping nothing breaks otherwise we would have to spend $100,000 on new equipment. I still have nightmares when I opened up that Visual C++ project.
