Catanzaro: GNOME Core Apps Update

GNOME realistically has no choice but to keep competing with bigger projects at this point, because Xfce already fully occupies the niche of "simple, reliable, dependable, Gtk-based desktop environment". GNOME surrendered it some 16 years ago to pursue a "vision" and they should own that decision.
