If it's the same issue I hit, the fix/workaround is to disable ipv6 name resolution - in the config editor, toggle `network.dns.disableIPv6`. I didn't look into the issue in detail, but it smelled more like misconfiguration on the server side than in thunderbird - advertising v6 addresses, but having the service not work with them, or something like that.
