Is your new samba an upgrade? I remember ages ago something about upgrading the samba protocol (for security of course) and a lot of old printers can't upgrade.

If you've got a new samba config, you might find it needs SMBv1 or somesuch for the printer, and that is almost certainly "disabled by default" for being insecure.
