Debian to vote on its firmware path

Modern versions of the management engine are actually x86 based, but are part of the chipset rather than the CPU (some mobile parts have these both on the same package, but as separate dies). It's not quite the same as a BMC since it has more direct involvement in CPU bring up, but I agree that it's probably conceptually closer to that than any other category of hardware.
