We have not proposed any API yet and we have never posted anything upstream, so what exactly "is not seen favorably in the kernel community" will forever remain a mystery.

Well I bought one of the mentioned Lenovo laptops in July preloaded with Ubuntu before all of this blew up and all I am seeing right now is Intel trying to push their proprietary trash onto everyone else.
