Heinz: It's Time to Say Goodbye to These Obsolete Python Libraries

This isn't hypothetical either: for example, https://devopshq.github.io/artifactory/ does exactly that, and we were able to take advantage of it to write code that could deal with either local or remote paths relatively painlessly. (Well, aside from the Artifactory-specific pain, anyway!)
