enhancements solidify the Desktop/LX line as an industry leader.

*What is Desktop/LX 1.4 going to be like?*

    * New: Desktop powered by KDE 3.2.2
    * Enhanced: New kernel supports even more hardware
    * Enhanced: More high-quality Bitstream^® fonts
    * Improved: New splash screens
    * Improved: Better support for today's applications

      <http://www.wallpaperaday.com>
    * Improved: Updated graphics and icons
    * Faster: Boot sequence
    * Increased: Number of programs available in Iris^TM

*Why the name change?*
We've been listening to our customers. The current Desktop/LX Platform
is named Amethyst, or version A. The next platform will be called
Beryl, or version B. Numerically, this corresponds to version 1.0,
version 2.0 and so forth. Since this is the fourth update in the
Amethyst series, it makes sense to refer to it as 1.4. Not only does it
shorten the name of the product, it also gives people a better
understanding of just how far we have progressed.

*Updated Desktop Environment*
The Desktop has been completely updated and revised, powered by KDE
3.2.2, providing more features and better application compatibility.
 Included with the new desktop are a range of high-quality Bitstream^®
fonts for unparalleled visual clarity and readability. Over the coming
days we will announce further enhancements to the Desktop/LX 1.4 platform.

*Enhanced Software Support*
Desktop/LX includes support for more third-party software, more programs
from our Iris^TM Software Gallery, and more Lycoris Software Paks.
Additionally, Desktop/LX includes newer versions of key software
components, including the Linux kernel, GTK and QT, Mozilla, the Gimp,
and more.

*Faster, More Appealing Boot Sequence*
Desktop/LX's bootup procedure is quicker and lets you see key
information at a glance, while still allowing you to get the details
when you want them.

*Outstanding wallpapers*
Desktop/LX 1.4 comes with 52 all-new wallpapers provided by
WallpaperAday.com <http://www.wallpaperaday.com>. These wallpapers are
sure to please!

*Improved Hardware Support*
Desktop/LX now recognizes more hardware than ever before, including
video cards, network cards, and more. The updated kernel adds
additional functionality.

Desktop/LX 1.4 is scheduled to ship during July. You can place your
