Encoding more and more complexity into the type system until you have created a monstrosity sounds like the perfect fit for your typical Java codebase though!

We achieve nirvana as soon as we design a type system that's able to catch 100% of the bugs that any program written in the language in question can possibly have.

... by making it impossible to write any useful program in that language. The poor users will not be in nirvana, though: they'll be longing for a system in which it's actually possible to get work done. :)
