Folios merged for 5.16

The long-running and sometimes acrimonious discussion on the memory folio patch set has come to an end: the folio patches were the first thing pulled into the mainline repository for the 5.16 development cycle. Now the developers involved just have to do all of the other work identified as necessary to clean up the memory-management subsystem and isolate it from other parts of the kernel.

Can we buy gift baskets for the developers involved? Somehow?

Maybe the LF should really set up something like buymeacoffee or Github sponsors.

Maybe they should be paid fairly for their work.

What makes you think they aren't? Most are paid by large corporations to work on Linux (eg, Matthew Wilcox, author of the folio stuff, works for Oracle and mentions that in his sign-off on patches).

A desire to thank them - which I share - is different from their getting paid.

Thanks to those involved - it has been incredibly hard to get any significant motion in this entire space, and I hope this will unblock further progress in this area.
