Well the performance tests were done by the ksmbd developers, not by the Samba developers :-). We already have an io_uring module but Samba is a little more complex to configure, so it's possible that the performance gap may not be so bad :-).

Yes, latest tests with io_uring shows Samba is actually *faster* then ksmbd at this point. Still working out the details, but generally I would say for streaming IO performance Samba and ksmbd should achieve similar numbers. For metadata oriented workloads ksmbd is going to come out first.
