Why the heck "equity" is used to justify all kinds of moronic changes? There's no pressing demand to save a few kilobytes by merging timezones. If you want equity, then just go and put in more TZ entries for underserved territories.

It's not. It's being used to justify *this* moronic change. You cannot extrapolate from one incident.
