There are people who have written books on mobile phones (ISTR one even on a "feature phone", but can't find a reference), so software development on one doesn't seem surprising to me, especially with an external keyboard. I remember using the command-line on the OpenMoko, software development during idle moments while travelling doesn't seem unlikely. I've read blog posts about people doing software development on tablets with external keyboards. I note there is an iPhone port of Emacs already, so someone somewhere has probably done software development on an iPhone.

True, with an external keyboard it becomes less strange. In fact, only recently I compiled the experimental "mobile enabled" Debian package of dino-im on a Mobian PinePhone first. However, I was logged in via SSH from my huge, 32 cm screen X220 :-) But I'm probably too old to use such a device for anything serious.
