I think there are still two groups in there. Those that aren't aware that the version is EOL and those that are forced into this situation by others (customers, decision makers in their own company).
For the latter it would be useful if distros and the security community could provide more non-technical material (ideally translated into many common natural languages) to explain why running a version that is past EOL is a bad idea, giving examples of scenarios that can happen, their likelihood and the likelihood of being able to fix them while a system is still supported and while it isn't any more,...

We have tried to get a roadmap from the contractor of what they are planning to do when CentOS 7 is EOL, but so far we have not gotten and answer to that.
So we are at the moment stuck on CentOS 6 for some machines and hope that they find out how to move further on - if they manage to get on CentOS stream, jump to redhat or one of the other redhat clones or switch to another distribution entirely - in due time before CentOS 7 is EOL.
