The Fedora Project would like to thank the thousands of community members whose
testing and contributions have raised the bar of quality and made this release
possible.

What is the Fedora Project?

The Fedora Project is a Red Hat-sponsored and community-supported open
source project that promotes rapid development of innovative open source
software through a collaborative, community effort. Fedora Core 2
provides a complete Linux platform built exclusively from open source
software. Available at no cost, the release serves the needs of
community developers, testers, and other technology enthusiasts who wish
to participate in and accelerate the technology development process.

As a community forum for advanced development, the Fedora Project
provides early visibility to the latest open source technology and
serves as a proving ground for technology that may eventually make its
way into Red Hat's fully-supported commercial solutions such as Red Hat
Enterprise Linux. Red Hat contributes development resources, editorial
direction and management to the Fedora Project.

How Can I Get Fedora Core 2?

Fedora Core 2 x86 or x86-64 Downloads are available from:
http://fedora.redhat.com/download/ or from the network of
mirrors in the Fedora Project distribution system. Users may
prefer to download Fedora Core via BitTorrent, or via older
file retrieval protocols such as HTTP, FTP, or RSYNC.

BitTorrent typically provides faster download speeds than
	HTTP, FTP, or RSYNC.

BitTorrent RPMS for Red Hat Linux and Fedora Core
are available with detailed instructions at
	http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/

There are EU & US torrents (to try and cut down on traffic bouncing across the atlantic). There were supposed to be AUS torrents too but not heard about them.

The full set of torrent URLs that I know about are:-

AMERICA TORRENT: Duke University, North Carolina, USA
http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/tettnang-binary-i386-iso.torrent
http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/tettnang-i386-DVD.torrent
http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/tettnang-src-i386-iso.torrent
http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/tettnang-binary-x86_64-iso.torrent
http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/tettnang-x86_64-DVD.torrent
http://torrent.linux.duke.edu/tettnang-src-x86_64-iso.torrent

EUROPE TORRENT: Univerzita Karlova v Praze, Czech Republic
http://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/fedora-torrent/tettnang-binary-i386-iso.torrent
http://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/fedora-torrent/tettnang-i386-DVD.torrent
http://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/fedora-torrent/tettnang-src-i386-iso.torrent

[Cut and paste from Jakub's anounce yesterday]

Many of the mirrors have also put up BT clients into thise set of torrents so that there are seeders available for the startup. As ever please leave your client running after the download to give other people a push.

Please use only the main torrent (torrent.dulug.duke.edu). Given all the crazy routing on the Internet, using the other ones is likely to just increase transatlantic traffic, and splitting the download clients across different torrents will decrease the download speed for individuals.

I would gladly (actually prefer) to use bittorent - BUT (and its a big BUT) - I can find no BT clients that supports bandwidth limiting of my download (only of upload) !

This means that unless I implement trafic control (and that takes time I don't have) everything else on my internet line, will be affected while I download a 4gb DVD iso :(

For this reason I'm forced to use FTP mirrors - and am seriously considering looking into the python code of btdownloadheadless.py and see if it isn't simple to apply the code used for upload-limiting, on the download rate too. But seeing as no one has done this, it probably isn't :(

I don't normally see too many trolls on LWN...

Did you test any of the release candidates? Did you open any bugs and help developers debug the problems with your hardware?

If you don't participate in the development and testing efforts, you have no right to complain about the release.

Yes I have tested, and by the way- relase notes say that my mobo don`t work, work in debian, suse 9.1 and Mandrake- So they even know it- that`s wat`s bugging me, they puch for a release without even fixing major issues.

Cause alot use Vmware to test in Corp world, and the only "distro" I have had any problems with is Fedora 1 and 2

and thanks for the link, so I may be able to test it at least

See my kerneltrap blog entry for detailed instructions on getting Fedora Core 2 Test 3 running under VMware Workstation 4.5.1. I will verify they work with the released Fedora Core 2 as soon as I can download the .ISO files.

How do you guys read it: "ecks dot org", just "ecks org", or "zorg"?

I would always say "ecks dot org", but maybe that's just me...

I like saying it "Zorg." It makes me think of the Fifth Element movie.
