Intentionally buggy commits for fame—and papers

I understand that the ban on all university emails can be unfair to individual members of the university yet IMO it is fully justified. The university is responsible for the research being done there both in fame and in shame. If I am not mistaken, a paper was published last year, so in this particular case the university can not even claim that they were unaware of this research.
