I think a lot of people still think of Rust as being something Mozilla is pushing, even though Mozilla has now laid off most of the Rust developers they once employed.

I'm not aware of a single person Mozilla currently pays to work on Rust ... which is great. Rust grew up and Mozilla doesn't need to invest in it anymore.
