That is absolutely not true when it comes to security. Postel's law is widely regarded (at least by security experts) as misguided in a hostile world like today's Internet. (It was probably a good idea at the time, but no longer. Of course, in *some* cases it might still be a good idea.)

I think you misread. The passage you quote agrees that Postel's law has been proven unhehlpful on the modern network. It's just a bit hard to parse.
