Attacking the journalist integrity of the LWN folks in that manner is just “going low” unfairly. I know that it's become increasingly popular to do that in politics in the last four years or so (but I was hoping that era might be over now 😩). I, for one, appreciate that LWN covers stories from multiple angles and clearly marks opinion pieces as a opinion and news as news, and that the news pieces cover all relevant sides of the story. (In this case, Jake literally said that there was “nothing wrong” with Elastic's actions, a statement that I obviously disagree with, but which is appropriate to say in a fair journalistic piece about this recent news.)
Furthermore, LWN also provide this forum for anyone who wants to share their opinion and have the comments posted unmoderated on their own site (as you have literally done) — which allows anyone to easily rebut anything they like, and as quickly as they like. Thus, to attack LWN in that very forum is just dirty politics.
I felt compelled to point this out because it's likely awkward for Jake and the other LWN folks to politically defend their obvious journalistic integrity themselves when attacked like that.

I didn't question anyone's integrity. I subscribe here. The side that Jake portrayed, he portrayed accurately. Even OSI threw in a paragraph along the lines of, "Well, it's their software. Sometimes licenses change." That's obviously not a point from Mongo, Elastic, or any of those supporting the new terms or their choice to use them. It's not even about whether SSPL is open.

There's a difference between "This article tells only one side of the story" and "LWN is biased/one-sided". Also, drawing parallels between kemitchell's post and Trumpian cries of "Fake News!" is hardly accurate.
> I, for one, appreciate that LWN ... clearly marks opinion pieces as a opinion and news as news ...
I can't see where this article (or any article on LWN) is marked as news or opinion. Am I missing something?
You seem to be suggesting that this piece should be considered news, but the last paragraph in particular belies it being quite opinionated.

To rework a famous old quote you lawyers often like: “When the law is on your side, pound on the law. When the facts are on your side, pound on the facts. When neither is on your side, pound on the table” … or maybe just accuse the media coverage of being one-sided.
