While this article demonstrates good value for the Arm-based AWS offering, the performance is pretty appalling. The Intel CPU has half the cores, was designed in 2017 and fabricated on 14nm technology, compared to 7nm for Graviton2. So with two hands tied behind its back, x86 still has comparable performance.

Percona is misleading a lot of people with this article.

On the other hand, it is cheaper on AWS than comparable Intel CPUs.
