I haven't been using GNOME for the last 8 years or so. The things that actually drove me away were:
- Missing right-click menus.
- "Hot corners" that couldn't be disabled.
- No bottom/top panels like in GNOME2.
- Broken menus in some apps (Eclipse).

I remember spending several days with gnome-tweak-tool, before giving up and moving to xfce.
