Last year, we took SummerCon to the 'Burgh, and you loved it! This year, it

And quite possibly some of you haven't... I know I didn't.

But at SummerCon 2004, it doesn't matter if you are new or old to this game;
everyone will be sharing their side of what it means to be a hacker. There's
something for anyone who considers themselves a computer user. You will find
all types of speakers and attendees at SummerCon, including hackers,
phreakers, phrackers, feds, 2600 kids, cops, security professionals, U4EA,
r00t kids club, press, groupies, conference whores, k0d3 kids, convicted
felons, concerned parents and teachers! Don't miss out on this scene --
great things are on the way!

Online registration will be available soon. Visit http://www.summercon.org

Be a Speaker at SummerCon 2004
If you would like to speak at SummerCon 2004, send your request via email to
papers@summercon.org with a title and abstract of the presentation, and
short bio for the speaker(s). Please send your request by May 15th, 2004 so
we can finalize and post our speaker list ASAP. If you are interested but
unsure about speaking, or have never done a public presentation before,
please submit a request anyway -- we will be happy to provide you with
useful feedback.

Cardinal Rules
1) Don't do anything the feds will frown upon.
2) Damage, destruction, or theft of hotel property will not be tolerated.
3) Treat hotel guests and employees with the highest level of respect and
gratitude.

Hotel Information
The conference will be held once again at the University Club of Pittsburgh.
It was a pleasure having the event there for 2003, and many attendees have
been excited about having the event return for 2004. As organizers, this is
a great location for us too, so here we go!

The hotel is holding 20 rooms at a discounted rate; when you call them, let
them know you are attending SummerCon to receive the discount. Act fast,
rooms are limited!

There are several other hotels located within walking distance of the
University Club.

More About SummerCon 2004
The Oakland area of Pittsburgh is known for its high concentration of
hackers, programmers, computer nerds, federal agents, software startups, and
laid-back city atmosphere. The University Club was founded in Oakland in
1890, and represents much of the tradition and architectural beauty that
you'll find within walking distance of the hotel. Next door is Soldiers and
Sailors National Military Museum and Memorial -- that place where they
filmed Silence of the Lambs? Nearby you will also find the Cathedral of
Learning, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, SEI,
Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and
Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History.

While it's true that hackers and computer users of all types have no
difficulties meeting each other through the Internet, SummerCon has always
cultivated a friendly, relaxed and relatively dark environment relished by
those who are computationally endowed. SummerCon speakers have covered many
state of the art subjects with regard to hacking, network security, Internet
crime, numerology, war driving, smart cards, digital identity, computer
gaming, social engineering, and art-hacking. We let almost anyone speak at
SummerCon!

Tired of lectures? SummerCon traditionally bestows great honor upon those
who
manage to win hacker-style competitions such as the Wardriving Challenge,
37337 Password, X-Blast Championship, and My Greatest Hack. It's not often
you get the chance to tell about how awesome of a hacker you are to a
audience who will understand what you're talking about! SummerCon attracts
some of the smartest and coolest people on the Internet -- Here's your
chance to humiliate them!

Online registration will open May 1st. Check http://www.summercon.org for
additional details.

We look forward to seeing you in June!

SummerCon is the oldest of the annual computer security conferences. Its
origins are well tied to the early years of Phrack Magazine, a mainstay of
the hacker community. Members of the media wishing to find out more about
SummerCon should send e-mail to media-relations@summercon.org.
