Loaded terms in free software

Some points of interest - "master/slave" terminology doesn't translate well into other languages. Mostly because it sounds very offensive and out-of-place in a technical document. In Russian we use words "leader/follower" or transliterated English "master/slave". Chinese uses words translatable as "host/follower".

On the other hand, the terminology of "master branch" is a better fit, in the sense of "master record" (something that is used to stamp more records).
