Enabling the persistent journal in Debian

(To be clear, those would both be perfectly valid, I'm just wondering if there's more to it because I'm curious. I've used both "journald only", "rsyslog only", and hybrid solutions, and reliability has not really been a huge factor except in the sense that having remote logging at all is a big factor.)
