Akaunting: a web-based accounting system

I'm happily using (home bank)[http://homebank.free.fr/en/index.php] for quite a while. I'm not sure why one would use a web based software for something as private as financial data. Naturally, a company will probably not find their wish features in home bank. But for us lowly normal people, having a cross platform, free, functional, private piece of software available is all we need, don't we. I find it more promising for small companies to find 'private' OSS accounting SW projects and join forces to add the company-centric features rather than a "hosted" version where you have exactly zero control over your data.
