Sadly, neither Red Hat nor SUSE are helping to bring KDE into the Wayland world. The only reason GNOME has been able to make it is because Red Hat has developers pushing it forward for their commercial Linux desktops.
Even SUSE, who is a sponsor of KDE, does basically nothing with the desktop. :(
SUSE even ships GNOME with Wayland by default in SUSE Linux Enterprise 15.

This is not all that surprising, since SUSE has been driven out of the desktop market by price undercutting many years ago; see this article by SUSE's former Linux Desktop Architect.
