I for one have been happily using a couple of "USG" filters (https://github.com/robertfisk/USG), which work absolutely well for USB1; I see now the author builds USB2 filters (faster, but not fully open anymore apparently)

This may become an opportunity to prepare something for USB3/Thunderbolt?
