Subject:  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Linux Thin Clients To Replace Sun In School Board
Date:  Tue, 30 Mar 2004 13:12:50 -0500

BRAMPTON, Ontario, March 30, 2004 - Systems Aligned Inc. (Systems
Aligned), a professional Linux IT services firm, announced today the
sale of Linux thin clients and servers to the North West Catholic School
Division #16 (NWCSD #16) school board in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Selected for a pilot project to replace Sun Microsystems software and
hardware, the Linux thin clients and servers will be used to lower
hardware maintainence costs, take advantage of the thousands of open
source applications available for Linux, and to ensure the student to
computer ratio remains at near two to one. Manufactured by Symbio
Technologies LLC of New Rochelle, New York, 122 thin clients will be
easily deployed and managed from four Linux servers using Symbio
Technologies recently released Symbiont Management Suite.

Leveraging the unparalleled low cost of open source software, Linux thin
client computing centralizes computing power, storage, applications and
data on a Linux server, providing users with a lower cost device that is
easy to install, while all maintenance and updates are handled from the
server.

NWCSD #16 had a requirement to replace their Sun Rays and Enterprise
server systems, which have proven to be expensive to maintain, said
Brian Zammit, Vice-President of Systems Aligned. Systems Aligned
provided the ideal solution because Linux thin clients leverage
commodity hardware, the great functionality and strength of Linux, and
simplified management to keep initial and recurring costs low. Linux and
open source software is a great solution for a difficult problem.

The Linux thin clients and servers will be intergrated into the existing
mixed environment of Windows and Sun systems. Software from CodeWeavers
Inc. will be utilized to deliver Windows web browser plugins to Linux
web browsing. All other applications the students will use will be open
source software available from the Internet. Based on the successful
completion of the pilot project, Systems Aligned will be completely
replacing NWCSD #16's 789 Sun Rays with Linux thin clients and servers.
