SOT donates source code worth over 1M Euro

SOT DONATES SOURCE CODE WORTH OVER 1M EURO

SOT has donated over 50,000 lines of source code 
to a financial software project. The code has taken 
over 10 work years to create, and represents more 
than a million euros worth of effort. The code will 
be freely available as a part of the pupesoft.com 
project and will be released under the GPL license.

"We are very honored by the confidence SOT has 
shown in pupesoft.com. The code will certainly help 
to advance the project significantly", said Jarmo 
Rosenqvist, Project Manager at pupesoft.com.

Pupesoft.com financial software has been created by 
combining a modern database with the PHP scripting 
language. The software includes advanced features 
that meet companies' financial administration needs.  
A key point of focus is the new area of electronic 
financial administration.  With its rapidly growing 
level of automation, everything is based on electronic 
invoices and their effective approval process.

"This donation is to show our support for the 
pupesoft.com project", said Santeri Kannisto, 
Managing Director of SOT. "At the same time, we 
are preparing to offer the system to our customers
as a complete, turn-key solution for financial 
administration. We also have plans to provide  
pupesoft.com users with professional services and 
commercial-level technical support. When the 
integration is complete, we will be deploying the 
pupesoft.com software in our own organization, too."

The donated code comes from SOT's financial 
administration software, originally produced for 
both customers and for the company's internal use. 
The software has been developed since 1995, when 
SOT first deployed it as an administration tool 
and web shop. Today, the code includes support 
for multiple geographical locations and stores, 
advanced product configuration, real-time project 
tracking and reporting, and support for multiple
languages and currencies. According to SOT's 
customers, the product has resulted in sales 
growth and significant cost savings, due to the 
highly automated, stream-lined financial 
administration it offers.


Pupesoft.com

Pupesoft.com is a community aiming to create open 
financial administration software by using free
software.  A LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP)
environment has been selected as the product platform. 
All run-time and development software used in the
project is available under an Open Source license. All 
newly developed code is planned to be released under 
the GPL license. Pupesoft.com software is used by Oy 
Arwidson Ab, Maston Oy, and Victoria Oy in Finland.
