I disagree. The project could push out tracking to as many users as possible and deal with the (well-known) consequences, *or* it could simply notice whenever a proposal is so bad it sparks flame wars across the entire internet and change course.

The latter option never gets taken by FOSS projects of this size. Fedora has a chance to revolutionize the industry! ;-)
