LWN login problems with Internet Explorer

I recently reported this situation from my employers' laptop (I am not allowed use non-approved software). I found a slightly different resolution to the problem. I added lwn.net to the list of always allowed cookies.

I suspect that MSIE, when set to reject 3rd part cookies, is treating https://lwn.net as a different site to http://lwn.net
