It's a bit sad none mentions conda environments, which solve a lot of trouble.

They sure do, but the context for this discussion was "what can the core Python development team do or change to improve things". conda lives outside of this scope, so it doesn't really get to enter into the discussion (though we've certainly discussed these issues with the conda folks).
