Stable kernel updates

Greg Kroah-Hartman has announced the release of the 4.11.3, 4.9.30, 4.4.70, and 3.18.55 stable kernels. They contain a rather large set of patches all over the tree and users should upgrade.

Can someone has an info what is going on with older LTS kernels? I find it rather strange that 3.18 and 3.10 are marked as EOL, but are receiving updates, but not-EOL kernels 3.10, 3.16 and 4.1 don't.

3.18 and 4.10 (presume a typo) while already marked EOL were always maintained by Greg, and so he is probably backporting the fixes he gets as a "freebie" (most likely without any implied warranty), all other kernels you mention have a different maintainer[1] and therefore you should expect their releases to be done at different times and through a different announcement

iirc 3.18 is a widely used android kernel, including being used in gkh's phone it sounded like ... :-)

Cheers,

4.10 is end-of-life and did not receive an update, nor will it in the future from me as far as I know.

3.18 is "odd" and I have discussed it in the past as to why I'm keeping it around for the moment. It's still marked end-of-life as you really don't want to rely on it, and could stop maintaining it at any point in time (meaning, don't rely on me please...)

Hope this helps.

Yes, sorry for a typo. I actually meant that 3.18 and 3.12 (not 3.10) which are EOL kernel, but are still receiving updates.
