Couple of things: As a non-American, I find it sad and disheartening that the terms "liberal" and "progressive" have pejorative connotations for a large segment of the population. 50 years ago, to be "progressive" and "liberal" was a badge of honor and the sign of a decent society.

Second, did you read the Bloomberg article to which Berners-Lee linked? Regardless of what you perceive Bloomberg's bias to be, do you dispute the actual facts reported in that article? And if they are true, do you not find that scary and disheartening?
