Linux champion Munich takes decisive step towards returning to Windows (TechRepublic)
TechRepublic reports that the Munich, Germany city council has voted to begin the move back to proprietary desktop software. "Under a proposal backed by the general council, the administration will investigate how long it will take and how much it will cost to build a Windows 10 client for use by the city's employees. Once this work is complete, the council will vote again on whether to replace LiMux, a custom version of the Linux-based OS Ubuntu, across the authority from 2021."

The Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE 15x) will take place March 2-5 in Pasadena, CA. Christine Corbett-Moran will be giving a keynote talk on Open Source Software as Activism, Beginner Linux Training is back with two classes, there will be a PGP Keysigning Party, and Ticketmaster and Linode will sponsor a reception at the historic Castle Green.Netdev 2.1 update
Netdev will take place April 6-8 in Montreal, Canada. Registration is open, the first bronze sponsor has been announced, a talk on Distributed Switch Architecture has been accepted, and the call for proposals is open until February 20.Events: February 16, 2017 to April 17, 2017
