Thanks a lot for this nice article Jonathan, very much needed and appreciated!
Only a few clarifications regarding the realtime modifications:
TEMP_FIFO is not going to be a new scheduling class, but simply a set of changes to the existing RT throttling mechanism that allow demotion towards CFS for tasks that exceed their allowed bandwidth. Also I'm not sure about when this and other modifications will land in AOSP (if at all), we are still very much experimenting with them.

TEMP_FIFO sounds an awful lot like the isochronous scheduling class aka SCHED_ISO in use in the BFS and MuQSS schedulers I've been maintaining. Glad to see this idea and its potential usefulness is gaining traction at last.
