It is however, widely accepted, and is the foundation of various trademark policies including the Firefox one. If people could tweak Firefox 'a bit' and still use the name, there'd be no need for Iceweasel. Now, you can argue that there actually isn't any need for Iceweasel, but if you are, then it's safe to say that your view is not universally agreed.
