and as always, every time you add a middleman you have to add in their profit margin as well (but hopefully benefit from any economics of scale they have)

Probably they are all middlemen.

It has been shown Google, Facebook and even Microsoft design some of their own hardware and place orders in China directly. There is no HP, IBM, Dell, EMC involved in that process.
